Well, you are welcome to visit mine sometime.

At least in America, the practice had gone into decline. I could speculate why, but it really doesn’t matter. Suffice it to say that American Lutherans are making the sign of the cross with growing and greater regularity.

That’s good to hear!

Thanks, Andrew.
It is good. If we as Lutherans agree with Luther that the only theology is the theology of the Cross, and further the immence importance of Baptism, then it simply makes sense.
Additionally, if it more closely links us as Christians together - Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox, Anglicans and others- all the better.

What I have seen visiting Lutheran churches is the pastor making the sign at the benediction, and the congregation doing nothing.
At our church, more and more are making the sign of the cross at the beginning of the service, Absolution, after receiving Holy Communion and at benediction. The pastors are encouraging the congregation in this practice. Too many years it was seen as too Roman. Lutherans are accused by Calvinist of being too Catholic and this influence in America caused Lutherans liturgical problems.
