How many non-denominations in the US and what causes this?

30,000 denominations and counting is not 1 faith no matter how much you try to trivialize the “secondary matters”.

You can’t even find two Protestants that agree on baptism (also mentioned in the verse I cited).
That’s plainly not so.

A. Faith
B. I don’t think the difference between Catholics and Protestants on this point is in our access to the Holy Spirit, it’s on the authority of the Church. Catholics (I have no doubt) pray through the Holy Spirit, but also acknowledge (in theory) the authority of the Church. Hence, (as I understand it) the magisterium of the Church, guided by the Holy Spirit has more authority than the individual Catholics personal interpretation as guided by the Holy Spirit whereas your typical Protestant is less likely to regard the teaching/doctrines of his or her Church as being more authoritative than his or her personal interpretation.
Hi

I don’t get at it. If the Protestants are guided by the Holy Spirit and the Catholics are also guided by the same Holy Spirit; why the Holy Spirit don’t say unto them to get united to where the truth is? Why the Holy Spirit is neutral on the issue?

Thanks

Hi

Yes, Jesus was a Jew and a Messenger Prophet to Jews till (and also after he went to India) he disappered from Judea, in my opinion.

To my knowledge, Jesus never accepted or performed the rituals/formalities for being a Catholic Protestant or JW.

Muslims do say that Jesus was a Muslim; in the sense of the meaning of the word Muslim, a submitter to truth. Yes, in my opinion Jesus was a submitter to truth; but that is another thing.

Thanks

As I’ve often said, there is really no such thing as a non-denominational church. Some might be a denomination of just one congregation, but most will be found to fit quite nicely in one of the existing structures.

For the most part, someone gets in his mind that, “Now we’re going to have a real New Testament church with ME as the head.”

Ok sorry, I expected a reasonable source. Are you really trying to say you can count 28,000 Denominations in your city of 40,000 people? I hope not. And Denominations of what? Cause LDS arent even considered Christians by hardly anyone but themselves.

no i did not say that i could count 28000 in my city of 40,000 people. that would be close to a denomination per person would not be much fellowship there. What i said was in a city of just 40,000 i can not count all the the different denoms and individual non denoms so that world wide i have no problem at all believe there to be 28,000 or so separate protestant groups out there. and it think i said that does not even include the lds. by that way i really think it is a reasonable source one just have to take the time to read through it and but open to it saying things that may be contrary to what they believe.

That’s estimation, and thats not a very good source, when talking about religion.
Hi

In fact there is no need to count or recount the denominations; these are there, now one should concentrate on getting all denominations or those who say that they are non-denominational, all united under ONE UNITED CHRISTENDOM.

Is it a possiblity?!

I love Jesus and Mary as I do love Buddha and Krishna

Thanks

Jesus was not a mere “submitter to truth”.

He said He was TRUTH.

Period.

Well - no. John the Baptist was baptizing before Christ assumed his ministry.

Hi

Yes, snow is right. John the Baptist was baptizing before Christ assumed his ministry, it is very much mentioned in the NTBible. Jesus did not mind getting baptized by John as they were Jews of the same faith.

I love Jesus and Mary as I do love Buddha and Krishna.

Thanks

The baptism of John was a washing with a message of repentance. It was not even close theologically or spiritually to the Baptism that Jesus taught. IT was a pre-figuring of it, as the mana in the desert was for the Eucharist.

I quote Abraham Lincoln concerning the large amount of different Christian denominations; “My good brother,He said, " YOU ARE ALL WRONG. THE MORE SECTS( DENOMINATIONS) WE HAVE THE BETTER. THEY ARE ALL GETTING SOMEBODY IN THAT THE OTHERS COULD NOT: AND EVEN WITH THE NUMEROUS DIVISIONS WE ARE ALL DOING TOLERABLY WELL.” AMEN,BROTHER ABE, WELL SAID

Hi

Is it a myth? If not, then kindly quote starightforward passages for the **Text from Bible **and **for Reason **also. I don’t think you can add to the wisdom of John the Baptist or his cousin.

the Gospel of mark ch 1 vs 1-7

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, "Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way; 3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight – " 4 John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 And there went out to him all the country of Judea, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, and had a leather girdle around his waist, and ate locusts and wild honey. 7** And he preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.**

clearly John says that the baptism of Christ is a different one than his.

Clearly showis John taught that it was as diffent baptism.

It’s telling, however, that as Protestant denominations across the world continue to split, the Catholics and the Orthodox are gathering in many large groups outside the church and reunifying.

For example, a large group of American Episcopalians, tired of the increasing liberalism of their denomination, split to form a rival Anglican Church this week. This is the largest Protestant denomination in the world, and it’s unity is absolutely imploding.
(By the way, some of these Anglican parishes, rather than staying in their chaotic denomination, voted to join the Catholic Church as a group.)

Earlier this year, a large portion of the Assyrian Church of the East, a group of Christians that broke from the Catholic Church in the 400s AD, REUNITED with the Catholic Church. The rest of the denomination is now in talks for reunification. The Traditional Anglican Communion, a denomination of over 400,000 people, has petitioned the Catholic Church for reunification, and are awaiting the details of the settlement. Catholic discussion with various Orthodox groups has also become more productive in the last few years, and we have signed a joint declaration on justification with the Lutherans, virtually solving one of the biggest theological disputes between our churches.

There has also been unification among Protestants. For example in both Canada and Australia there has been unification of the Presbyterians, Methodists and Congregationalists, although there is a continuing Presbyterian Church in Canada. Even then it should be noted that there were 4 Presbyterian denominations in Canada at Confederation which united into one in 1870.
