How many of us will end up in hell?

By “us” I mean the inhabitants of the modern world.

The question should be how many of us desire or hope to be in Heaven one day. I for one have no clue who is in hell or who will end up there. That isnt for me to know or my place to say if someone will end up there or not. I personally wish that everyone would repent and believe so that we can all be in heaven.

God Bless, Kerri

Then maybe you should read this:

That is a dissent filled website. I’m not sure if I would trust anything they post.

That being said, Hell is a real place where people go and the gate is wider than the gate to Heaven. I hope everyone finds the narrow one.

Why are you asking us? Jesus said that the Father had appointed Him judge of all men. He’s the one with the answer.

Revelation 12:4 indicates that about a third will be damned.

At Fatima, Mary said that she see’s souls falling into hell like snowflakes.

That is why we must pray.

I am rather scrupulous so I tend to think about hell alot. Probably too much. We live in a period where so many have forgotten about God. So many refuse to believe in God and follow His commandments. I couldn’t say how many of us will end up in hell. I try not to judge. So many of us deserve to be there, myself included

I have heard that the Church has said in the past that the majority of the souls that die go to Purgatory, the second largest group go to Hell, and the smallest segment straight to Heaven. Can any confirm this?

I do wish more people believed in Hell. Any Priest who doesn’t paint a realistic picture to their congegration is being very remiss (same with the layity as well). As Father Corapi always says, “you may not like what I tell you, but that isn’t my problem. I’m not going to Hell for any of you!” I would say that those in the know who withhold the truth are just as guilty as though who sin.

I would hope the vast majority of all decent folks go to Heaven and at worst go to Purgatory for only a short time.

There are not too many people that I know who would deserve eternal punishment. Even the most disagreeabke folks should get Purgatory at worst.

I don’t happen to know any criminals, execpt the ones I’ve read about. And those I pray, were repentant enough at the very end to avoid Hell.

For all the people I’ve ever met or encountered in my life I would hope Purgatory is the worst of their fates. It may not be likely that everyone gets into Purgatory or Heaven, but I pray for all of them anyway.

If the world keeps on its path, then I fear the real response… however, since I am not God (and thank goodness I don’t have to be) then I will let Him decide…!! 😃

Do not presume the fate of anyone! “Judge and you will be judged.”

In the words of Saint Augustine “Do not despair, one of the thieves was saved. Do not presume, one of the thieves was damned.”

Also, DO NOT focus on things below, rather on what is above. Pray to God that all may enter heaven. You should believe that hell exists, but do not focus you attention on it.

So…Romano…you believe all that sedevacantist bunk? Always check the page for a home page so ya know who you’re reading.
Ah, Michael! So the other guys are always ABSOLUTELY WRONG (even the Saints they quote, which in this case was St. Leonard of Port Maurice) and you are always ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Must be a nice feeling.

BRAVO! But perhaps you’d better be careful or someone around here will probably accuse you of being a ‘sedevacantist’ too.

Good point! The concept of eternal damnation is very discomfiting. I guess that most priests, feeling that their congregation doesn’t even want to think about it, take care not to mention it. They might also be concerned that some people can become so obsessed with the fear of hell that they end up fleeing Catholicism by leaving the Church. Barbara Pappas, an Orthodox Christian, offers some good advice in her ‘Are You Saved’ (p.47):

“There will indeed be judgement, but we should not despair. We need not live our lives in doubt and trepidation. We have the hope of salvation. We know that God keeps His promises, and that if we truly love Him and really try to be followers of Christ, we shall be saved (Mt 24:13).”
