I did a little bit

But being from Asia, we’ve been exposed to more of these stuff way before Power Rangers. Not to mention I was at the perfect age to be watching this stuff back then. Back in the 70s there was a show that was called Star Rangers in its english translation. While they did not have a huge robot, they were the original and I loved them when I was little.

I recognized the similarities to voltron as well, but it’s not really a ripoff, the Japanese just like giant robots that combine into even bigger robots.
Fair enough. 😛

I am of the age that, when the Power Rangers came on the scene, I recognized them for what they were: a rip-off of Voltron. 😛 😉 😃

I was more of a Ninja Turtles kid.
Ninja Turtles wasn’t around when I was a kid, but I remember Voltron (one of my favorite kids shows). Definately a Voltron rip-off.
Power Rangers and Rugrats. Ahh, those were the days.😛
My little sister’s favorite shows back in the 90s, as well as Blue’s Clues and Fraggle Rock reruns in the late 80s, early 90s (“Frag Rock” as she called it when she was a baby). She wanted to be a Power Ranger (the pink one), too. I think the fact that I was taking Tae Kwon Do classes at the same time made her even more interested. :rotfl:

I hear RPM was the last Power Rangers series though. 🤓
I’m gonna go recant this statement of mine and say I just shot myself badly in the foot. It turns out RPM is not the last and it doesn’t look like Power Rangers is ending anytime soon. What did end was Disney’s grip on the franchise.

With that, I present without further ado… Power Rangers Samurai.

WHO AM I KIDDING!? Merciful heavens above! What have they done to Shinkenger!? DX

Every Power Rangers season from MMPR-Super Samurai is available to watch on Netflix 🙂 I presume that Megaforce will be available on Netflix once it finishes airing in the U.S.

I must admit, it came out in '93 and I watched it for at least the first two seasons, but I got tired of it after the first movie. However, if I had to pick one tv show that defined my childhood it would be this one (or the really badly animated mario cartoon)

How many of you watched power rangers as kids?
I never got into power rangers. When I was a kid I watched batman, x men, animaniacs, ninja turtlies and maybe a couple more. I think Batman the Animated Series came out in 93 as well. The nineties had some great cartoons.

Thread is two years old. Subject is twenty years old now, so maybe it doesn’t matter. 🤷

I never understood the appeal of Power Rangers, the effects and storyline alike always struck me as being kind of awful. And for some reason, neither seemed to get much better in any of the spinoff series. Probably because it’s a mix of action scenes from the Japanese Super Sentai show with different storylines. I would say it was before my time, but it looks like it’s still going.

I was always more into Teen Titans and Batman. I guess I prefer american superheroes that don’t use giant robots. :o

Batman the Animated Series was awesome. Saban produced a live-action version of Ninja Turtles called Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation. Because Power Rangers was declining in ratings at the time, Saban produced a team-up episode featuring that version of the Ninja Turtles and the Power Rangers in Space. Ironically the Power Rangers franchise still continues to this day whereas Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation only lasted one season!

The only thing the power rangers has going for it is the pink power ranger. I didn’t like the show because it was cheesy.

Some episodes of Mighty Morphin’, Zeo, Wild Force, and Ninja Storm.

In my country, Super Sentai, the Japanese franchise on which PR is based, ended at Jetman. Nowadays some of my fellowmen would resort to fansubbed episodes (for the latest series like Gokaiger, Go-Busters, and Kyoryuger) because they couldn’t find officially-licensed material.
