How many people here at Catholic Answers Forums (CAF), started off by arguing against Catholicism and now defend Catholicism?

How many here at CAF, came looking as a non-Catholic and are now Catholic or considering Catholicism?

How many Catholics have returned to being more active as a Catholic, after visiting CAF?

Although option 3 doesn’t quite fit my situation 100%, the other two are completely not me, so I voted for option 3.

I always had a link to the faith, and started coming back years before I found CAF. However, CAF has sped my love for the faith that I’m sure I would have found without CAF, just later in life.

For example, with CAF, I have found links to latin chants, which I play while I contemplate God’ love for me. 👍

I found CAF accidently but finally it helps me to understand my catholic faith which I wasn’t aware or even didn’t understand before. But some time it makes me feel uncomfortable to read anything which sounds spreading hatred. Because I think the most important is spirituality not religion. So, I prefer to read selected threads.
God bless

Hi,
I couldnt vote because there wasnt one that fits me. I came here because a catholic friend thought I would enjoy it. She knows I love to talk and meet people and discuss the bible.😃

Well, I had never been on forums before so I didnt know what to expect. I was taken back by all the fighting and debating and your wrong Im right mentality!! BUT, I got sucked in and started to defend my faith(NCC). It became addicting to say the least. FINALLY, I have stopped coming here and pop in once in awhile:thumbsup:

Positive’s I have received from CAF------I shared the faith with many, met a great friend here and we have met and will be lifelong friends. I have been mentoring her(she is young enough to be my daughter). I have met some fellow brothers and sisters in Christ whom have helped strengthen my faith and walk with Christ. Through reading their debates it was like a mini bible study for me.👍

I have also learned ALOT about catholocism. I came here not knowing hardly anything about it and now I know more then most,if not all, my catholic friends and family.

However, learning catholocism has been rough for me because now I know what the CC teaches—it has just upset me at many of the teachings–as I dont believe them to be true. I now have a heavy heart for catholics and pray all the time for the ones I know and in general. I know that is not what you wanted to hear but that is what happened to me.

But wait–on the flip side–I do find myself defending some of catholocism to catholics who are getting it wrong:D I live in a town that is mostly catholic and so they will say this is what our church believes and I correct them. I find many catholics here(where I live) are hostile to the CC:confused: Even though I dont agree with the CC it just breaks my heart to hear them talk about the CC the way they do, so I step in when appropriate.

I came here as a non-Catholic, and still am. But I am considering attending RCIA. I can’t say that this is due to this site, but I’ll admit that there have been several points/arguments made by Catholics here that have made me more eager to learn more(RCIA). The reason I come to this site is to learn about Catholism, because I’ve never really been exposed to it until recently.

Need another poll option:

I came here as a catholic, and now I’m not.

I came her to seek a better understanding of what Catholicism was all about. It has been an eye opener.

I came here because to learn, because a Catholic internet chum of mine was attacked by a non-Catholic Christian - the Church was called a “cult” and of course the ever-famous “Whore of Babylon.”

I wondered if it was true. So I begin to investiage, relying heavily on CAF for answers even though I did, and still do, just a lurk a lot, reading, and for resources for books and so on.

The results of my research: I’m beginning Inquiry at a Catholic church in 2 weeks with every intention of going on to RCIA and entering the Church next Easter.

It’s my poll…so I get to pick the questions…and I like the questions…:extrahappy:

True enough. But wouldn’t you rather have all the information? 😛
Nope…nope…nope…nope… nope…not the Protestant information.

I haven’t yet figured out how to block the posts that I don’t like, although I’m still working on it, so in the mean time, have at it…😃

Peace 🙂

There used to be a function where you could ignore posts by a particular person - I can’t find it though. And there are a few people I’d like to use it on to…

So its like the old election with only one option and people get voted back into office every time.

Yup real open to peoples opinions here.

Oh well if it helps you feel better about yourself I suppose there is some benefit to it.

Hey, why don’t go back and vote for the second choice on this poll…that’s a good one…😃

Hey, look everybody…I finally found the delete button…don’t make me use it. 😃

What is the point of a poll where you only have the option of yes. 🤷

Well I have to say I knew some about the Catholic church and learned even more here. The site did strengthen my disbelief in protestantism. However, I do not think it helped my Catholic faith, there appears to be to many conflicts with historical understandings and the developments the Catholic church has made regards to doctrine. The one that appear to be more unified with history seems to come from the Easterners. So I find myself now thinking about climbing over the mountains towards Constantinople. Im still Catholic though until the spirit givesme a good push to be sure. I do think overall this site is good because it helps me to think about my faith more critically all in the search of God.
