How many read the life of Catholic saints?

Do you ever read the lives of Saints in Catholic Church even if you are not a Catholic? and how does it help you?

Hi Water,

I am Catholic and I grew up reading the lives of the Saints. By reading about the shining examples of truly holy lives, I have become a better Catholic. It is through them that I learned about sacrifice, fasting, and how to live your everyday life and be more spiritual.

Through the glory of the Holy Catholic Church, their names will live on and on.:angel1:
 
I don’t, but thats no surprise. I do learn though from the examples of many great catholic people Mother Teressa and John Paul II being high on that list.
 
I have a volume I inherited from an elderly friend of mine when she died…“Lives of the Saints”…along with the companion volume of the Bible, Duoay Reims Translation.

I have read some of their stories along with “Fox’s Book of Martyrs” and “Martyrs Mirror”, Anabaptist martyrs along with “Book of Quaker Saints”. I am impressed with the dedication these believers had to their respective faiths…even to the point of death. Wonderful stories of courage.

I have several books on the lives of the saints and some specific saints that I want to learn more about. I think they are an inspiration to us. To know that I have an extra voice in Heaven asking God to grant me another Grace.
They are a source of hope… knowing how some of the saints didn’t lead very good lives until a conversion. Even with all the sins they have commited in their lives prior to that conversion they were still able, by God’s Grace, to reach up and be held in the warm embrace of Lord in His Kingdom…

Wow!! What a powerful thought…I pray we all that Blessed with His Grace… AMEN!!!
