At our largest Mass we may have as many as four. Fewer if both deacons are present, and/or a second priest.
Interesting. Intinction not permitted in my Archdiocese. I do like it though. Solves a lot of arguments. We have about 1,000 at each Mass. Communion is offered Intincted by our two priests. They are often assisted by our Deacon and an ordained Chaldean Subdeacon who is a member of our parish.
The Subdeacon is our only EMHC
All is done at the communion rail.
On first read, I thought you meant 1,000 EMsHC at each Mass.Communion is offered Intincted by our two priests. They are often assisted by our Deacon and an ordained Chaldean Subdeacon who is a member of our parish.Code:We have about 1,000 at each Mass.
I think you misunderstood your bishop.Interesting. Intinction not permitted in my Archdiocese. I do like it though. Solves a lot of arguments.![]()
Prot. n. 468/05/L Rome, 12 October 2006
- Sometimes, however, the high number of communicants may render it inadvisable for everyone to drink from the chalice (cf. Redemptionis Sacramentum, no. 102). Intinction with reception on the tongue always and everywhere remains a legitimate option, by virtue of the general liturgical law of the Roman Rite.
I understand about self-intinction, btw.SELF Intinction is prohibited everywhere. Intinction by a priest is an option everywhere in the Roman Rite.

Talk to your pastor about it. As you mentioned, it solves a lot of problems.I understand about self-intinction, btw.
OK, so it’s allowed. We don’t have it. That’s all I meant.![]()
I wouldn’t read too much into it. Seems like only yesterday that the Crystal Cathedral had attendances close to capacity which I know was over 2,500. Then they went bankrupt.OK, you take the prize. WOW!!!
As would a required three-hour fast before communion. Just sayin…Talk to your pastor about it. As you mentioned, it solves a lot of problems.
You weren’t the only one[aside]

In that case, generally 5-7 depending on the number of priests and deacons. Most often it’s 6.Thank you for your feedback so far!
Just how many are used per Mass.![]()
I have the same question. Are you looking for a tally of how many people in the parish serve as EMHCs in total, how many are used between all the Masses on Sunday, or how many are used per Mass?
Yes, per Mass.I have the same question.
Assuming it’s per Mass; 0 when Mass is according to the 1962 Missal. 2 EMHCs when Mass is in the OF on Sunday. 0 for daily Mass in OF or EF.
Only 50 families per Mass (presuming all go every week) and that many serving EMHC’s? Might as well make it a requirement one from each family should be an EMHC.At the parish where I’ve been about a year now, there are 62 EMHC and about 300 families registered. Each Sunday there are 6 Masses with 4 to 5 EMHC assisting. Mass times are 7,8, 9:15, 10:30 Noon, 5 PM. Communion is under both kinds at all Masses. The EMHC carry the Eucharist to various Facilities and the homebound on a regular basis and I’ve seen sometimes as many as 5 come up at the end of the distribution of Communion to have their Pyxes filled. There are some approach the Tabernacle in between Masses to fill them for distribution as well. We have 1 Priest as Pastor, one priest as Vicar, one Permanent married Deacon and one weekend assistant. It think that gives more information then was asked but it pretty much sums it up.
Oh - I should add that the number of EMCH will be shortly increased by a few more just as soon as the Pastor approves them.

Are you sure about those numbers? Only 300 families and 6 Masses? We have 1,000 families plus 250 college students, and we only have 5 Masses (including Saturday night.)At the parish where I’ve been about a year now, there are 62 EMHC and about 300 families registered.
