How many regular EMHCs at your parish?

Well, sorry for taking so long to reply to the comments on my post about the number of families vs. the number of EMHC at the parish where I live. The Internet Explorer problem caused me to be outta here for about 2 weeks and I completely forgot about this thread. Sorry.

I needed to add a zero to the 300 to make it 3000. The actual number is just under 3000 but they round it up a few. However the extraordinary number of EMHC at the parish is obvious. There are always laypersons involved in the Liturgy, from Lectoring to Ushering to Alter serving to EMHC to Cantors to Greeters to Sacristan, etc. There is virtually nothing the Pastor won’t let laypersons do except the Transubstantiation in Mass. It is also male and female in all capacities. In fact, most Masses have more women and girls “ministering” than men. There is much irregular where I am at. But I stay uninvolved and out of the way for my own reasons.

We do have a Deacon who is married and a late-in-life vocation, however he rarely serves the Altar. Maybe one Mass on Sunday or Baptizes an infant or two, but he isn’t used in the fullness of his capacity at all. Not even close.

We don’t distribute both species at my parish. We use acolytes when a second priest is not available (like last night at Saturday mass and Wednesday at ascension Thursday vigil mass). My parish is small…not sure how many families.

Depends on the Mass. We have 3 English Masses each Sunday (and Sat night) and only one priest with no deacons. Communion is under both species.

Sat night-7
Sunday early Mass–11 however we are running a test for the next two weekends to see if we can make it without 4 of them so that would bring us down to 7.
Sunday 10:30–11

During daily Mass…still under both species and we will have 3.

I really hope the less EMHC’s at the Sunday early Mass works…one because I’m MC at that Mass and two because when I am not MC, I’m EMHC and I would like to have a Sunday off now and then…
