Hello!
I was recently reading through a thread on CAF that discussed how many times a person is allowed to receive Communion on Sunday. The thread went off topic to argue about Solemnities, the 24 hour period, etc. But it got me thinking…
My husband and I are both very involved in music ministry at 2 parishes in our area. On a normal Sunday, we sing at a morning Mass for one parish, then in the evening for the other parish. On occasion, we get asked to fill in at an additional Mass. So sometimes, we sing at maybe 3 or 4 Masses between the 2 parishes (no better way to spend a Sunday in our minds, especially since we don’t have children yet!)
In reading the other thread, it mentioned that a person is allowed to receive Communion only twice on Sunday (including the Vigil Mass on Sat. night). So in our situation, should we not receive Communion at the extra Masses, even though we are fully participating in the Masses? Does it make a difference if the Masses are at different parishes? We are happy to obey what the Church says. We are both so drawn to the Eucharist that I don’t think we’ve ever thought of not receiving Communion when it is offered to us.
Thank you for your kind help!
