I agree all thought Jesus meant what He said to be literal. I’ve NEVER denied it (I may have mis written but I NEVER denied they believed).
The twelve also took Jesus teaching as literal?

Jesus told us why to take communion, in rememberance of Him (implies symbolism).
Do you not think we do not recall He whom we are receiving body, blood, soul and divinity when participate in Holy Communion?

For me, the question of how bread and wine can be God is similar to how man/flesh can be God.

The eucharist points to the incarnation and the whole relationship between material and spiritual which is a great thing to ponder. Just where does material end and spiritual begin within ourselves ?

Of course i respect other views that see things differently.

I didn’t say he ran after or called after them, and he definitely didn’t tell them or anyone else he wasn’t speaking literally in John 6. I did say that they heard his words of truth and were free to accept or reject them. So, when they walked away they walked away because the saying was too hard and they would not believe…Just like the Protestant Churches today.

I have no problem with someone ‘throwing punches’; I don’t remember why I snipped back at you (I make enough responses and am getting older so I don’t sometimes remember specifics).
If my memory serves me correctly, the OT forbad eating human flesh or drinking human blood. .

Yes the OT also had strict Sabbath laws and Jesus broke them too.

Yes, he said eat this, this is my body. He could have just as easily said “Eat this it is like my body which will be broken for you”. …But he didn’t…In all 4 Gospels he says the exact same thing ….”This is my body”. St Paul also verifies this in his letter to the Corinthians.

-If it is the real presence, why don’t those who take His presence inside them die if they don’t do it worthily (the non-believer specifically). Uzzah was killed for touching the Arc of the Covenant.

Why don’t people drop dead when they withhold their tithes and offerings?..The acts of the Apostles has a story about this happening too. Comparing the Arc of the Covenant to Holy Communion is new to me. Was God Physically present in the Arc?
