How many times would it take for your pastor to preach hate for you to leave?
???How many times would it take for your pastor to preach hate for you to leave?
This is unclear. What do you mean “hate”? Hating sin? Hating groups of people? How many times would it take for your pastor to preach hate for you to leave?
hate of a particular race or hate of the country they live in? only once. I would walk out in the middle fo the sermon. This is unclear. What do you mean “hate”? Hating sin? Hating groups of people?
What do you mean “leave”? Leave the parish? Leave the church? What? If something is being taught against Church teachings, then why no just report it to the bishop? Why does a person have to leave. Seems cowardly to me.
If he refuses to listen I’d have to leave.15"If your brother sins against you,**(“http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew 18&version=31#fen-NIV-23741b”)] go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'c] 17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
but did he actually preach hate during the sermon? All that said, I did stay at a Catholic Parrish even though the Priest was hateful. So in RL experience I think I’d probably be more patient than is warranted.
no, not in the homily, it was in a “counseling” meeting.but did he actually preach hate during the sermon?
hate of what?no, not in the homily, it was in a “counseling” meeting.
Am I a presidential candidate in this scenario?
Since un-programmed Friends don’t have “pastors”, if an elder or clerk spoke “hate” in Meeting, he or she would be “eldered” in the way of Friends, if they persisted, they would be removed from being an elder or Clerk of the Meeting.
I think this is the proper way to deal with this.I agree with you, Publisher. Most churches have a mechanism for dealing with such a problem. I would complain to the bishop’s office.
Protestants.hate of what?![]()
Which one are you alluding to? I can think of three.Am I a presidential candidate in this scenario?
