How many trees are there in the garden of Eden?

I read a bible commentary yesterday and I found out that there were 2 trees that were forbidden for Adam and Eve; the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge and God actually saved them from the Tree of Life when He expelled them from the Garden, Is it the teaching of the Church?
 
its not just the teaching of the Church, it is right there in the book of Genesis. See Gen. 2:9, where both trees are named. They are forbidden to eat the Tree of Knowledge in 2:17. The exchange between Eve and the serpent concerning eating from the trees of the Garden is found in 3:1-7. And then, in 3:22, God runs them out of the garden before they eat of the Tree of Life “and live forever”. A guard is placed at the Tree of Life in v.24.
