After talking with my cousin last night, he expressed his skepticism in the ressurection of Jesus and of His other miracles. He says “not everyone” saw these miracles and only the apostles saw Jesus after he ressurected, somehow implying that these instance were simply made up.

It is of my understanding that in regards to Jesus’ miracles, such as healing the blind man, that there were many witnesses, believers and skeptics alike.

Am I missing something?

Read Matthew 14, 15 and 16. He fed 4,000 and 5,000 with a few fish and spoke directly of the miracle in chapter 16. There were a lot of witnesses…

I have a friend like that, very sceptical. I think most of us, look at Jesus with twenty-first century eyes, the greatest man ever to walk the earth raised the dead, made the blind see, the lame walk. Their should be more mention of him outside the gospels.

Aftet Jesus rose from the dead, his apostles we re entrusted with the mission to make jesus known. They we re the witness, and many of them gave their lives for that witness.

St Thomas: my lord and my god

What an act of faith

Well, sometimes I say that these are the things were using a little bit of common sense helps. Who was Jesus until he was 30 years old? A simple carpenter in a tiny little town unknown for most of the world. He lived during a time where there was no newspapers, no internet, no TV, no computers and where communications between far away lands were highly difficult. How many carpenters from Nazareth do we specifically know about now, over 2000 years after? Only Jesus right, and the reason is because the odds of one simple carpenter in such a remote area of being world known – given the circumstances mentioned above – are close to 0. The fact that we know about jesus today, is by itself a miracle if you take into account the area, the circumstances and the times in which Jesus lived. Second, you need to remember that christianity in its beginning was not an accepted religion. The first christians were ALL persecuted, heavily tortured and murdered for 400 hundred years. Do you really think anyone is going to happily accept being brutally tortured for hours for something that they know is a lie? Obviously no. So only the fact that you had thousands of people who accepted being tortured and murdered only because they believed in Jesus Christ, that by itself does tell you that Jesus actually did something that nobody else on this earth has ever done.

No that is not looking at Jesus with 21 century eyes. That is what I call not thinking.
You should probably tell that friend " oh yes, haven’t you ever wondered why there were no news of Jesus in the newspaper or why there are no tape recordings of him." Statements like that are like saying that Christopher Columbus went to the moon with a ship.

Very good point.

Well I agree with you their was no mass communication. We do however live in 21 century and Jesus Christ is the biggest name ever, bigger than all the caesars put together,so people tend to look at him like that, maybe ypur right, maybe it is not thinking, they forget the obscurity of his village.

Whatever the reason he transformed history.
