I just was wondering, how many still wear Medal,s on there shirts ,or coats,or Brown Scapulars, around there neck ,and how many people wear Crosses out side there cloths too show that really love the Lord, and want people to know that there devoted too the LORD.I do ,for I,am devoted too the Lord, and not man. AMEN :knight1::harp:

I don’t see an outward show of our faith to be any more “faithful” or loving of the Lord than no show. Go to Mass and receive the Eucharist. That matters to God and strengthens our faith.

I go too Mass, but I wear a Cross out side of my clothes,AND many people said they like the Cross ,plus people like that I wear medals,us older people will be that way tell we leave this world,we want people to see that we devoted too the LOVE of Jesus .People still go and bye medals ,are you afraid that someone will say something you might not want too here ?,that,s why we still have Catholic stores full of Medals too wear, Crosses ,Well I love you as a person, we have our know reason,s May God help us to understand each other. God Bless

I wear my Confraternity of St. Peter pin on my lapel, a crucifix around my neck, and, normally, a brown scapular.

I always wear a Crucifix and/or a religious medal. I am comfortable wearing them outside my clothes, but some people aren’t…we don’t need to judge them. It doesn’t mean they’re ashamed, just that they might be more private than others.

I wear a medal but always try to keep in mind that piety is not holiness. Holiness is a decrease in sin and an increase in virtue.

Piety is not loving your neighbor as yourself nor does it replace the corporal acts of mercy.

I wear my Crucifix, Miraculous Medal & Tau outside my clothes. My Brown Scapula I wear inside my clothes next to my skin.

I was inducted into the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel but cannot wear the wool scapula so I wear the equivalent medal, I also carry my rosary in my pocket always and everywhere. Yes, I do pray the rosary frequently, I don’t carry it like an amulet.

To be fair, a lot of people who do not identify as traditional or orthodox Christians nonetheless wear crosses as jewelry.

I also think that we should be careful to balance being vocal for our faith with coming across as being nutty or fundamentalistic. The issue is not so much about human respect as it is that we can actually scandalize people. We have to understand how our message is being understood, and we could actually do more damage than good sometimes.

I wear a brown Scapular under my shirt. I always think of it as my Catholic “dog tag”. It is basically a part of me now. I’ve worn it for so long.

I wear Medals ,because they make me I,am being protected, and it was said bye Mary ,that those who were my medal with Devotion shall be protect like the Miraculous
medal, and her Brown Scapular, that she told people that if they wear they shall be protected against the fires of Hell… I love my neighbor, and do what I can too bring them closer too Jesus.I also keep certain Medals and Rosary,s if people would like one, because Our Lady loves when we give Brown Scapulars to people too wear. AMEN Remember I love you just as well. God Bless:harp:

Well stated.
Nobody knows what I wear around my neck and I don’t broadcast it.
I figure Christ Himself knows.

I wear a crucifix, miraculous medal, and patron medal around my neck, but under my clothes. Even at Mass. I feel naked if I don’t have them against my skin.

We know that are Lord knows, but when I talk too some one about medals,I show her my medals on my shirt ,the Cross I wear and the Scapulars an medals i wear under cloths, and when I did she also broth out too show she wears the Brown Scapular ,so there are people who are,t afraid to show, there medals or Scapulars,we are just proud too show how much were believe,in what they stand for. God Bless my friend.

Respectfully, this is drawing very close to reading people’s hearts and ascribing motivations to them. Wearing a crucifix or a medal does not excuse one from interpreting things as charitably as possible.

Lookit, being very transparent about one’s faith is a wonderful thing.

But people have different opinions and forms of spirituality and temperaments and personalities.

I don’t think it’s useful to simply write everyone off who doesn’t wear certain external signs of their Catholicity as being proud.

And it’s especially bad to go around and accuse people of things based on a semi-judgmental attitude, especially when we accuse them of things like not loving God enough.

I’m sorry, but that sort of thing is clearly not merciful.

Who’s afraid???
Honestly, if you want to promote something, put it in the Prayer Intentions Forum instead of lecturing CAF member about what you think they “ought” to do and assuming we don’t do it

nicely worded, thanks.
Welcome to the forums btw

I wear a cross and 2 medals- St. Ignatius Loyola & St. Mary Magdalene.

I wear them for me, not for anyone else, and I really don’t care one way or another if they are showing or not. I do not wear them to “broadcast” my faith, I wear them because they remind me of what I have to do each day- pick up my cross, find God in all things, and let Jesus change my life.

If someone asks about them, I will explain, but I would never expect anyone else to wear anything unless they want to. Medals/crosses to not make someone “more holy” and if anyone believes they do, you are not thinking in line with the Church.
