How much "Catholic" is in your home?

Our home is home but you could say it’s the Filipino equivalent to the Weasley’s Burrow from Harry Potter. We have an altar at the end of the hallway and a picture of the Virgin Mary right next to our fridge but that’s more or less it. The rest is just plain furniture with whatever we managed to recycle from my parents’ previous businesses.

Heck, even I, for all my conservative Catholic beliefs, have a room that’s full of geek merchandise and devoid of any religious ones.

Doesn’t bother me though. 😉
 
Our home has a little altar set up on the mantle with a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes and a few smaller statues, rosaries are kept there, a crucifix and candles.

I haven’t quite unpacked all the pictures and stuff that goes on our walls since we moved in August, but eventually once it’s up there will be a few large paintings that we rescued when one of our regional mission churches was sold and they piled the paintings up at daily mass and gave them away.

I did get one of our two holy water fonts up right away when we moved, but the two year old can reach surprisingly high these days and after rescuing the font from her twice I put it away until I can figure out a place that she can’t climb to and reach.

I really, really would like to have a crucifix in each room someday, but I’m still working on that!

I really would like some statues - but I’m having some issues getting them.
I haven’t really found a great Catholic item website who’s shipping to Canada isn’t extremely expensive!
Although I do love going to catholiccompany and just browsing, even though I can’t afford the shipping on anything there! 😛

I am newly married and now a military wife, over three months ago we moved together for the first time to our new home on base. We are still sort of moving in, not much is on the walls let alone furniture, but I can say this what we have to put up are the following Catholic items:

::2 Crucifixes
::1 Military Catholic Cross
::4 statues (three small and one decent size)
:: Framed Pictures (about 10 or so)
::Font
::Wall statue of our Lady
::My Baptismal Candle
::Two Family Bibles
::One Our Lady Candle Holder

And I believe that is it. I know there will be more coming especially when my grandmother-in-law passes because she wanted us to have a majority of it. (I miss visiting her actually) In all honesty, most people when they walk into our home they know we are Catholic, I mean it is not flashy, but they will know. Yet, they know by how we act.

Me too! Along with pamphlets and all kinds of prayer booklets, etc. I had to limit myself to whatever fits in a small plastic bin - with the lid latched on.

Great centerpiece, btw.

I actually just got in the mail the Pocket Book of Novena’s and The Pocket book of Novena’s to the Saints, along with a copy of ‘The Imitation of Christ’.

I really need to stop now… lol! 😉
