I thought I would be the only one voting “0 hours per week”. You other non-viewers have restored my faith in mankind! Shall we take over the world?

God, my tv is on constantly. The second I get up its on the Today Show so I can get news and my local weather. It’s off when I go to work. I come home and it’s on again, pretty much til after I fall asleep. I’m an Amazing Race junkie as well darcee! I also love the West Wing, the OC, Joan of Arcadia, The Apprentice, Scrubs, and like every version of Law and Order and I watch 7th Heaven because I feel compelled to watch what a train wreck that show has become. When I had HBO I watched Sopranos/ Sex and the City/ Six Feet Under/ The Wire/ Oz . So my TV is on about 6 hours a day.

I’ve tried, but everytime I watch it, I have flashbacks to the SNL skit with Charlie Sheen where the ingriedient was shark heads, and he made shark head english muffin pizzas

Well I have to make a public confession… The boob-tube is on way too much in my house… I want to just through it out the window my my dh would divorce me first… I am working on getting ride of expanded cable and just having basic…But he can’t live w/o the “History channel”…ugh…boring… (Don’t take offense boys…😉 )

Tanya

Now the history channel was one of the only things I watched.

-D

You know what… for some reason I knew that… 😃 … I like the Discovery channel myself…

I like the History Channel too. Although I was dissapointed with the editing of Band of Brothers.

I like the engineering shows and MythBusters and American Chopper on Discovery too.

“On” and “Watch” are two different things. I usually like background noise, and I am a crazy multi-tasker, so TV sometimes energizes me in a strange way. Lizziebeth, you and I might be the only posters who admit to watching HBO. I genuinely like “The Sopranos” and sometimes like to take society’s TV pulse. I think of it like the new “L” rating the USCCB has for film ratings–some of these shows are “Limited” in that while they might offend many they are thought-provoking for some people like me.

I love HBO, LOVE IT. The Sopranos rocks my world. I don’t care if people think I’m immoral for watching it. It’s not like I’m running out joining the mob or becoming a moll. I just love the show.

I picked the option of between 25-35 (or similar) hours. We have it on a lot, but like Fortite said, there is a difference between “on” and “watch”.

When I get home from work and after I walk the dogs, I usually turn on the news, and I watch a lot of Greta Van Susteren when she has crime stuff on (I’m a crime junkie). But, I’m usually also on the computer at the same time, or unloading the dishwasher or something. I don’t always give the tv 100% of my attention. Like, tonight, I did watch an ep of Law & Order: Sport Utility Vehicle, but now have a bad sci-fi movie on, but it’s just in the background and I couldn’t really tell you what was happening.

It seems that there are many of us like that!

Also, I love The Amazing Race, too! On in 1/2 hour!

(Maybe we should start a group: Catholics For The Amazing Race)

I’m struggling with this one lately.
I know the TV is on too much - but if I’m going to get dishes and laundry done I use it as a crutch.
If anyone can give me ideas for alternatives I’d be grateful.

When my toddlers (2,3,&4) aren’t watching TV - I haven’t been able to get chores done.

How do you moms distract your kids while you take care of other business??

i do watch tv but most evening my son watch during daytime. he is allowed to watch pbs. for me i love watching spanish novelas, love westerns movie and for reality i like the queer guys they are funny. :tiphat:

**OK…I’ll admit it…My 50in. TV is on way too much…:o We got the set because of my poor vision, and I fell in love with it. **

I am trying to cut back…Sometiems…actually most times…it is on as background noise. I find that when I turn it off, to rest , or to read that I love the peace and quiet…

**My other “distraction” is this computer…😃 **

Our TV isn’t hooked up to cable - we only have a DVD player and rarely watch movies. Cable is ridiculously expensive here and rabbit ears won’t help because we’re in a basement apt and the reception would be awful. I don’t miss TV much - I can get my news on the internet and there are so many more entertaining things to do than watch sitcoms. The only thing I’m worried about is how I will be able to see the Notre Dame football games this season. Of course if this season, God forbid, is anything like last season I won’t be missing much! Also on election night I would like to be around a TV. I’d go watch TV at our upstairs neighbors that night, except they are all liberal dems and I don’t think it would be pleasant to be together on election night.

During the Olympics, constantly. Otherwise, hardly ever. Too busy with the Catholic Answers Forum to watch much TV.

i like to watch my spanish soaps, and now that the olympics are on i am watching them, i enjoy watching all the sports. :dancing:
