It

If the matter is serious and sinful in the Old Testament, then it remains serious and sinful, even though the sanctions directed against it are not today appropriate. Thus, the Ten Commandments have not become the Ten Points for Consideration and Discussion.
An interesting stand for a catholic to take considering that the RCC doesn’t require abstinence from work from Friday evening to Saturday evening. The RCC has no prblem disregarding this commandment.

Since you’re Anglican, we’ll forgive the misunderstanding of Catholic teaching. 😉

Catholics uphold all Ten Commandments. Just look at the Catechism of the Catholic Church. There’s a very large section on them, including the Third Commandment. Simply because we don’t worship on Saturday doesn’t mean we have chucked the Commandment. It simply means that we celebrate the “Lord’s Day” as the earliest Christians did – on Sunday. 🙂

I’m not a priest (my wife wouldn’t like that ;)), just a student of Theology and Scripture. 🙂

You mentioned you like the Old/New comparison with the Ark of the Covenant. You might like this article by Steve Ray: Mary: The Ark of the New Covenant.

I’m not sure if he mentions it in the article or not, but I’ve always thought that the comparison of Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant also bolsters the dogma of her perpetual virginity. No one was allowed to even touch the Ark (look at 2 Samuel 6:6-7 to see what happened to the guy who did!). So too was Mary “untouched”.

Good stuff!
i haven’t gone to that site but i have read other things on this subject… Scott hahn…

yes, i love the comparison of mary to the Ark…

it makes total sense… (at least to us Catholics) 🙂

its not a commandment…

where does jesus mention this/?

he doesn’t…

in fact, he even says that its no big deal to pick grains and eat them on the sabbath day… if one is hungry…
