Hello, if one highly suspects one is in mortal sin, how much does one need to rush confession. Eg do I need to attend tomorrow (I attended Mass earlier) or can I just wait till next week?

Go at once. Actual unrepented mortal sin can put you in Hell…
And ask the priest whether what you did was mortal.

God’s blessing to you.

If you are sorrowful for offending your LORD, why wouldn’t you want to run and rush to him to make amends, to reconcile?
My confessor said, “If you do this again, come and tell me right away; don’t wait until it happens three times.”
You are by yourself before you go to confession; but you are with Jesus after you go; you are now walking along with him.

Thank you all. It is slightly inconvenient for me to go tomorrow, which is why I’m asking.

You never know if you have until next week in life… so inconvenience is a very small price to pay for your soul. Confession when you are in the state of mortal sin is the will of God, doing the will of God is always a good idea. If you are unsure if it’s mortal sin or not, go anyway, God will still be pleased with you for making the effort.

If you have to wait till next week you’ll still be fine. You have the intention to go to confession which means you have some contrition even if it is not perfect. I think God is merciful enough to either let you live until you make it to confession or to forgive you without confession if you happen to die before next week.

You need to go as soon as you can. If you don’t whether the sin was mortal, ask the priest.

Tomorrow is Sunday so why won´t you just ask the priest if he has time after Mass? 🙂
If it´s helpful to know I´m going to try to make it to Confession tomorrow as well.

I’ve attended Mass on Saturday already and won’t be attending today, hence I’m asking if I need to go for confession on Sunday or can I wait till next week? Hope this clarifies.

Intention to confess is not sufficient to obtain perfect Contrition. Only perfect Contrition can restore a soul to saving grace after mortal sin in the absence of Confession and it’s not that easy to have.

If I believe I have mortal sin I get to confession ASAP even if I have to ask a priest to hear it outside of normal confession time. Most say yes.
