I was just thinking today. Many of us on here are very concerned with the current state of the Church and the not so good things that happen in many parishes and diocese around the USA.

This forces me to ask myself the question “How much would I be willing to give for Christ and His Church?”

Would I give some of my time? some of my money? would I go through inconviences to reform the Church? to lead others to Jesus?

Would I loose everything material to gain everything (forever in Heaven with Christ)?

would I suffer persecutions? even martyrdom?

Of course, I wish I could say yes, but I am so weak…

Have any of you thought about this before? How far would you be willing to go and to give?

Whatever I felt the Lord was calling me to sacrifice. He is the most important to me. More than my life, wife, kids, everything. I just Love the Lord so much!

Dear friends

It is not that giving to God leaves us empty handed, this is a fear people dwell upon without realising that only in giving are they given to and filled up more than they empty themselves of, forgetting what they give to God already belongs to Him and was initially gifted by Him to ourselves. The Lord is not outdone in generosity or kindness.

The answer is to give everything knowing you lose nothing but receive hundredfold what you have given, yes even in this life.

This is not easy, but all things are possible in God and this is why the rich man may find himself in heaven, as we are all rich in differing ways and squander so much, it is the embracing of God’s grace that enables such sacrifice from broken humanity.

Living Prayer, to be a living martyr, giving self up day after day, offering joy and suffering, in sacrifice for the Kingdom of Heaven upon the altar of our Lord united to His sufferings, yes even on earth…‘thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven’

This is living the Gospel, this is the Eucharistic life.

It is only satan that encourages our fears to hold onto the worldly things at the expense of the eternal, at the expense of our own souls, yes even to the loss of our souls.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Wow

I hope I’d be able to give my life if the time came for that…

…God grant me the grace!

I would give my life in the correct set of circumstances. Say our country became fascist over night and I had to deny Jesus or die, I would die.

However in todays humdrum world it’s so hard to actually think in these terms. Can I give all my money? No I can’t I have a wife and son and I have to pay bills. Can I give all of my time? No again I have to work.

I don’t know it’s hard to think it’s these terms, when the hypotheticals of becoming a martyr for example seem so far past becoming a reality. So I continue in my humdrum existence, knowing I’m not nearly as good of a Christian that I should be, and basically a failure of a Catholic.

Tough question…

Using to money and time to reasonably support your wife and son in a Christian manner is giving for Christ, because Christ charges you to take care of your wife and son.

Supporting our needs (not fantasy wants) is serving Christ.
