I was reading my bible some time ago and I read, about how some people would go to Jesus and Jesus would say “I know you not.” and they said, something to the effect of How can you say that? after all the works we have done in your name (I think exersicim was one) and Jesus repeated to them that He knew them not. The passage scared me a little and has me worried. What does one do so that Jesus knows them?

Jesus said “If you love me, keep my commandments”. Jesus knows who loves him and who doesn’t.

But, how could one do the wonderes in his name if they didn’t keep his commandments?

People can always claim to be prophesying in Jesus’ name, but that doesn’t mean they are. They are known as false prophets. If you love Jesus and want to “prophesy in his name”, or work in his vineyard, or be a “fisher of men” for him, then keep his commandments. He will know you.

Jesus knows us (“I know my sheep and they know me”). But there are those who only claim to be righteous and he knows them too. There are plenty of modern day Pharisees.

God can work through people even if they personally reject His help. God does it to honor Jesus’ Name, not the person doing the work.

For example, a priest saying Mass still consecrates the host (a wondrous miracle) regardless of whether he is in mortal sin or not.

Someone can truly be ministering in God’s name but themselves be lost, particularly if they are acting in an official position that God is guaranteeing.

Ecclesiasticus 37:21 … There is a man that is subtle and a teacher of many, and yet is unprofitable to his own soul.

Thus, if you see someone (Catholic) providing healing or miracles, don’t worry whether they individually deserve your respect, go to them to get God’s grace regardless! The same for a priest.

Can you be more specific? Which chapter in which book?
