Do you have a booklet or pamphlet for that novena ?
Do you pray this novena on occasion or do you start over every nine-days ?
What differentiates a novena from the prayers you say everyday ?
A Novena to Our Lady of Fatima pamphlet I have has a Nihil Obstat on the back. What does this mean ?

I tend to pray novenas for a particular intention.

Sometimes I petition a saint if their feast is coming up, and I time the novena so that it ends on the feast day.

I normally find the text of the novena on the internet, since that is the easiest way for me.

Several times a year, now that I have signed up for Pray More Novneas website. They send notices whenever a novnea is coming up.Right now I am praying theChristmas Novnea, dedicated to the end of abortion.Just last week finished the Novnea to the Immaculate Conception.🙂

Do you have a booklet or pamphlet for that novena ? I have a couple of booklets for novenas, but sometimes you can find good ones online too. A good site for this is PrayMoreNovenas.com.
Do you pray this novena on occasion or do you start over every nine-days ? I just pray mine on occasion.
What differentiates a novena from the prayers you say everyday ? **I consider the novena I am praying a “special” prayer; that is, its outside of my regular prayer schedule. **
A Novena to Our Lady of Fatima pamphlet I have has a Nihil Obstat on the back. What does this mean ? Nihil Obstat is Latin for “nothing hinders.” It means that the publication has nothing contrary to faith or morals in it.
God bless! 🙂

Hi Questioner26,

I pray a novena whenever I have a particular need or a concern that I would like to bring to the attention of a specific saint.

Yes, I have several different novena booklets that I have bought over the years that have specific prayers to specific saints.

The novena is said for nine days straight. That is what the word novena means. 🙂 novena=nine

In you want, you can pray your novena of petition for nine days straight, and then pray a novena of thanksgiving for nine days straight.

What makes a novena different? Well…from what I can think of, it is a special and specific prayer of petition for a special need for nine days.

Here is a link explaining what the words Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur mean. Usually we see them both together in a Catholic publication. They are defined better here than I could explain them for you:
