What would you think of modifying the professor Horner plan to include the entire canon? Your mind seems better suited to that than mine. Would you be willing to add the deuterocanonicals to his 10 lists and post them here? I think that would be great! Maybe I’m asking too much though…
List 1 (117 days)– Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts
Comment: Acts is a weird book. It’s not a Gospel, but it’s not an epistle either. I’d actually consider reading it in the same list as the Gospels, myself. Also, it frees up a list for me to further divide the Historical Books (Joshua–2 Maccabees)
List 2 (211 days)– Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua
Comment: I moved Joshua here, so I could make a cleaner cut in the Historical Books later. Now they’ll be split Judges–2 Chronicles (everything that happens in the Promised Land) and Ezra–2 Maccabees (Babylonian Exile and on)
List 3 (78 days)– Romans, 1/2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philemon, Colossians, Hebrews
List 4 (65 days)– 1/2 Thessalonians, 1/2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, James, 1/2 Peter, 1/2/3 John, Jude, Revelation
List 5 (76 days)– Tobit, Job, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs
List 6 (150 days)– Psalms
List 7 (101 days)– Proverbs, Wisdom, Sirach
List 8 (192 days)– Judges, Ruth, 1/2 Samuel, 1/2 Kings, 1/2 Chronicles
List 9 (258 days)– Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Baruch, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi
List 10 (66 days)– Ezra, Nehemiah, Judith, Esther, 1/2 Maccabees
Changelog:
List 1: Add Acts
List 2: Add Joshua
List 5: Add Tobit
List 7: Add Wisdom and Sirach
List 8: Remove Joshua, Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther
List 10: Create a new list with Ezra, Nehemiah, Judith, Esther and 1/2 Maccabees
Random fact: If you perpetually read this plan, it would take 35,852,910,350,400 days to reach a day with the exact same readings. That’s about 98,159,900,000 years– Longer than the expected lifetime of the Sun
