How often does CAF read/study the Bible (besides at Mass)?

And how much do you read when you do read? I usually try to read a few chapters from an Old Testament book I’m getting through and a few chapters from a New Testament book. I also like to sit down and study passages in both the Old and New Testament and attempt memorization.

Besides at Mass? Because I hear the Bible at least once a week. More often if I go to daily Mass.
 
I don’t think that an inanimate entity like CAF reads at all.
Individual MEMBERS, on the other hand. . .
 
Every day…especially through daily Mass. But equally important is that we should be reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church every day.
 
Serious question from a fairly new Catholic - Is the CCC considered more “value/important/???” than the Bible? I was raised sola scriptura and now know that is not true. Scripture is read at Mass while the CCC is not. Be nice to me 🙂
 
We have Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition They kind of go hand in hand.

Scripture and Liturgy are very important. Catechism tells us about our Faith.
 
Actually…think of it as a three legged stool. Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the teaching authority of the Catholic Church (the Magisterium). The Catechism has references to all three.
 
got it - I re-read and the post said the CCC reading was equally important. What I appreciate about the CCC is that it is definitive in belief/teaching whereas (Baptist) is always open to however the minister or teacher or congregation interprets. Some things are solid, but so much is left up to the individual.

There are so many confusing things about our faith.

Your Diocese might have short courses you can take online with Daytona . They cover different topics. 3 or 5 weeks long. They are really helpful .

Yes, Easter 2017. I love it! I do love reading the CCC, it is very helpful. Thanks for the recommendation. I meant that Baptist interpretation is left to the individual - not Catholic. Catholic is solid in their belief.

Lately, a lot of my reading and studying results from the Psalms, canticles, and readings of the LOTH.

I have a companion to offers additional reflections on the texts. I make note of things the stand out and make notes for further study.

The morning reading from Tobit is really speaking to me today.
 
I read Scripture a few times a week, for a half hour. I generally either read several chapters from the Bible (I am reading straight through) or I will review the daily readings for the last one to two weeks and think more in-depth about them. Either of those activities easily fills a half hour.

I do not do this every day because I alternate Scripture reading on some days with alternate forms of prayer on other days, such as Adoration for a half hour or an hour.
 
How much? Not sure it matters. Its how I deal with what I do read that seems to be more meaningful.
 
I know you are, but you really need to put in the qualifier, something like, “How often do people on CAF”. . . because the sentence as you stated is saying, “How often does CATHOLIC ANSWERS FORUMS (an inanimate plural noun) read/study”. It’s like asking, “How often does Google Chat Room” read/study the WSJ" instead of, “How often do people AT Google Chat Room”… .

and yes, it is important to be specific, and no, I’m not trying to be a pain in the patootie.
 
I can’t answer for the entire CAF as the question asks, but personally, I have an app that provides the daily mass readings as well as daily reflections, Saint of the day sort of things. Laudate!
 
I’m happy to see how many people read Scripture every day, not even including Mass! That’s awesome!
(I admit for a second I was like, “Hrmm, I thought I was gonna be special!” hahah–please pray for me 😑 )

You know you can get a plenary indulgence for reading Holy Scripture for half an hour in a day?
