“While it seems like philosophy can paint God one way as this immutable fixed thing in eternity, we can also see God behaving through Scriptural Revelation where he has a relationship with his people and they pray to him and he hears their prayers, even relenting, in certain Scripture passages.”

Only two conclusions possible here. God is not the immutable being the theologians says He is. Or scriptural revelation where He has a relationship with his people and they pray to Him and He hears their prayers, is a complete made up fantasy of wishful thinking. God is either immutable or he is not.

Light being a particle sometimes, and sometimes a wave has been proven. But, when it is a wave it is not a particle. When it is a particle it is not a wave. But God is supposed to be always and forever immutable, unchangeable. Like some form of light being proven forever and always a particle. That light could never become a wave. If God is immutable He could never become the nice guy described in the above quote.

If you have a relationship with God you know him in a way that surpasses philosophy. People want to put God in a box. All I am saying is that God can not be put in a box. Even philosophy is a wild stab in the dark when it comes to understanding God. Revelation always trumps philosophy.

If you have a relationship with God you know him in a way that surpasses philosophy… Revelation always trumps philosophy.
I would add “surpasses logic” I suppose you would also say revelation always trumps logic. I can’t accept that. There is no way to test revelation as to its truth. Logic is easy to test using well known rules. A revelation is always interpreted by the person it is revealed to. I would trust no human to interpret any so called revelation. Report it yes. Evaluate its veracity, no.

Salvete, omnes!

How often does God intervene in our circumstances as a result of our prayer, really?

.
I depends on the persistence and/or conviction of your prayer. It also depends who you are praying to intercede on your behalf.

A person can only pray if God prompts them to do so. So if you pray to Mary 300 times for something(this something must be in line with the will of God) then Mary will know you’ve been prompted by God 300 times and will intercede on your behalf.

So, who then carries out the miracle of an answered prayer. I would argue that guardian angels are allowed to do so by God.

Perhaps the awful truth is that he didn’t create anything. You assume he did because that’s what you have been taught by others that have been taught, by others that have been taught, and on and on…
Actually I have been taught by others( and others who have been taught by others etc) that things don’t create themselves:p.

My free will guarantees I can pray anytime I want to. I do not need a prompt from God. where did you get this strange idea?

If you pray for something NOT in line with the will of God you have wasted your time. If it is in line with the will of God, you will get it without praying for it. Doesn’t that make praying for things a waste of time??

One of God’s attributes is Immutable. Immutable objects are simply objects whose state cannot change. Another is Impassible. Impassible means not influenced by the actions of another being. Mary is another being. You can’t make God happy, sad, or feel sorry for you so as to grant the answer to your prayers. Mary might intercede on your behalf, but the above Church accepted attributes guarantee God will not be affected.

You have a bigger problem than I suspect you realise. In the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu says that he hears all prayers, no matter what god they are offered to. He, Vishnu, answers those prayers. As well as determining if a prayer was answered you also have to determine which god answered the prayer.

Given that there does not appear to be a great deal of difference between the effectiveness of prayer to Jesus, Allah, Vishnu, Amaterasu or any other god/dess then your question is a very large one.

If God is “completely inert” He couldn’t have created anything!
A god who doesn’t create anything is impotent and worthless…
You assume he did because that’s what you have been taught by others that have been taught, by others that have been taught, and on and on…
You assume that I have never thought about the subject and come to my own conclusions. I had nothing to do with the Church for seven years and then realised how foolish I had been…

Different interpretations of God do not imply there is no God. We’re not expected to be infallible but sincere and compassionate rather than negative and destructive…
