How often is Christ's blood offered at your parish?

Exactly why carpet in a church is not good, and why the Precious Blood used to not be offered…
That’s not really accurate. The chalice ceased being offered to the laity because many began to believe that each species individually did not contain the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

I suspect that’s still the case in many parishes.

Your reply doesn’t make sense… the chalice ceased being offered because the laity didn’t believe that each species didnt contain the fullness of Christ…?

Several weeks ago, an EMHC at my church tripped going down the steps, fell and dropped the chalice and Precious Blood on the carpet.

My church offers it at every weekend Mass. I forget if it’s offered in the morning during daily Mass.
That is just horrific…

That said if the substance is no longer physically recognizable as the Most Blessed Sacrament, then it ceases being the Most Blessed Sacrament.

A prime example is a consecrated host that is regurgitated by a patient in a hospital. That host can be dissolved in water and the water then poured into a piscina or a flower bed, or someplace else where people do not walk.

I’m not disputing that … It just seems as though you have a typo in your post… or it very well may be just me

The Precious Blood is offered at Easter in my parish and daily to anyone who has celiac disease. The only other times it is offered to everyone is when our Bishop celebrates Mass there.

Only at daily Mass when only a few people are attending. Otherwise, we are only offered the Sacred Host

What is it with the pandemic of celiac disease? I guess there were always people unable to eat bread, but it really seems to have grown.

In my experience, the Chalice is offered at every Mass at my parish. The only exception I can remember was during the 2009 flu pandemic, when for several weeks (months?) we received the Host only. I don’t remember for sure, but it may have been on orders from the Diocese.

It’s one and the same substance with the Host…it’s our lack of faith (and some other things) that make us want both.

While there are some with celiac disease, most of it more from the whole “glutton free” trend.

Amen to that. We have one EMHC who insists on a “almost gluten free” host. So in front of everyone, he has to set the ciborium down, pick-up her pyx with the special host and give her communion. I suspect her affliction would be not so severe if she was told to simply receive under the appearance of wine (which she does anyway.)

I would not necessarily make that jump.

Partaking of body and blood is the fullest sign, yet you are right in that we get the whole Jesus in one species.

It’s not a jump. It’s Church teaching.

TranSUBSTANTION.

The SUBSTANCE of the bread and wine are transformed into the “body, blood, soul, and divinity” of Jesus Christ, truly present.

The substance changes and is one across the species. The accidents remain.

Thus, “same substance” is a true statement.

I think you were making a jump by saying that people who like to receive both species don’t have proper Faith. Maybe I misunderstood you. I realize and agree with you that some might want to receive the blood for the reason you mentioned but not all. That’s all. 🙂

Well their faith isn’t informed by documented Church teaching.
They either don’t “give assent” (definition of faith) to the teaching on the Real Presence/Transubstantiation or they don’t understand their faith…or they give in to “feelings” thinking that they’re doing something other than getting in two lines!

I have no desire to receive from the chalice at all. I receive Our Lord fully and completely each Mass I go to, and I go daily.
