How often or how long to fast?

Greetings! I’m starting a 54-day Rosary Novena for my daughter, who is experiencing some spiritual oppression. I had also planned on fasting on bread and water Wed. and Fri.as part of a different project, and now would like to combine the two. My question is, given Jesus’ statement that some demons can be expelled only through prayer and fasting, should I be fasting every day for the Rosary Novena in order to help her, or just stick with fasting on Wed. and Fri.?

I suggest that you fast on Wednesdays and Fridays. To fast every day on bread and water could be harmful to your health. Even the Carthusian monks don’t do that. There is an old monastic saying: To fast well, one must eat well.
