How many times a year should a high school student go to confession?
 
As often as he needs to. The Church mandates that Catholics confess their mortal sins at least once a year, but encourages more frequent confession. Commonly, it is recommended that Catholics go about once a month. A teenager could try that and then consult with his confessor if that schedule doesn’t work for him.
