How old is the Church?

We speak of the teachings of the Church being 2000 or 2005 years old, but is that accurate? I know some use it as a rounded figure.
 
The Church was born on Pentecost, which was after Jesus’ public ministry had ended and he had ascended into heaven. The figures of 2000 years and 2005 years are based on the Gregorian calendar, which is based on the traditional – although not precisely accurate – year of Jesus’ birth. It would be an accurate, but in a somewhat loose manner of speaking, to say that the Church is two thousand years old. Precisely speaking, it is over 1950 years old, but we do not know the exact age.
