In my men’s group this morning one of our members used the Bible ie. Job and other readings to back the fact as he saw it that the world is only 6000 years old. He went further to say that the 7 days of the week and the statement that a day is like a thousand in the eyes of God to state that we are in the 6000 year and the last 1000 is at hand had some convincing arguments. He total blows off carbon dating etc. The Church and true science are not to be in conflict so what is the story. Len

From the Catholic Church’s perspective, the age of the earth is a scientific matter. Science has varying answers to that question based on what assumptions and theories are being used. However the general consensus is in the billions of years, not thousands. The Church does not consider the two creation accounts of Genesis to be literal scientific descriptions but rather poetic and theological descriptions.

As for when it will end, Jesus clearly stated that no man knows that day or hour.
