How old were you when you got married?

I was two months shy of my 24th birthday when I got married. DH was 34. We have two children, but would love to have more, but I don’t know if those prayers will be answered, as I will be 40 soon.
I have to say, my best friend married 10 years ago and waited until recently to try to have a baby. She will be 39 this month. After trying then fertility treatments, it doesn’t seem like it will happen. I think it is easier to get pregnant after 35 if you had a child before that age. Either that or my friend is just unlucky. It is painful to watch someone go through what she is going through.

I was 24 and DH was 29 when we were married. I was 27 when DS was born and will be 28 (almost 29) when our new one comes in a few weeks. My friends all told me I was so young to be marrying, and my family all told me it was about time 🤷

I was 22…DH was 30. We’ve been married for a little over 8 months and have one little angel from a miscarriage 4 months into our marriage. Hoping and praying for another baby! 🙂

I was 20, he was 25. We had one son a year later, then it took 10 years after he was born to conceive the next one. We did, however adopt when he was 8, so we have 3 kids so far, and praying for more.

I was 21 and DH was 22 when we got married.

I was 22 when we had G and DH was 23. We’re hoping for a lot more 😃

I was one month from 23 (a week after graduating college) and he was 24. We’ve now had four kids in six years. WHEW! Now I just hope my fertility slows down a bit:o .

We were married at 21 although it was 8 days away from DH’s and 13 days away from my 22nd B-day. We have been married for 6 years, we don’t have any kiddo’s but we do practice 🤷 (pray 😃 ) a lot for a child.

I was 23, my wife 22. She had our first at 24, second at 26, and third is due in a month (at 28). We both feel called to have more if they are sent! I’m hopefully being received into the Church this Easter and having them all baptised!

Almost everyone in my country (Canada) disagrees with me, but I think that marriage requires much more sacrifice if entered at a later age and 19-25 is ideal marriage age for most mature people. If young, you are willing to change, but at an older age you’re already set in your ways. Actually, you can look at divorce statistics and find that the most successful cohort enters marriage at age 24-28. Chances of divorce rise with every year before or after that range.

As regards “advanced maternal age” mentioned above, that is a medical term that refers to women of age 35 or older. It means that those pregnancies are automatically considered higher risk.

Fertility peaks around age 20-24, and remains high until a gradual drop around 30 and a precipitous drop around 35. At 40, most women cannot get pregnant by normal means. I have seen this firsthand with friends and coworkers, and women have been kept in the dark about it with all of these media stories about older moms. Every woman is different, and some remain fertile well into their 40’s, whereas for others it is too late by 35.

  1. Old enough to know better and too young to resist.
  2. Four

I was 18 (hubby 19). Had our only child when I was 23. (Was away from the church and used bc up until that point. Due to my heart problems getting pregnant again would almost certainly be fatal. We took an NFP class after having our daughter and have used it since. We will be married 17 years this Saturday.❤️

I will be 21, almost 22 when we are married in less than 5 months. I hope to start having children right away and I would like to be done before 35, as we have had a few problems in our family that I believe are the result of high risk, older pregnancy. Plenty of people do it without any problems and have perfectly healthy children in their 40s.

I was 24, Dh was 22 (6 wks away from his 23rd bday). We miscarried our first child, I am 26, Dh 24. It’s been a few months, but we want to try for another one.

I have them in college and in diapers at the same time. Right now. Seriously.

Please pray for my wife and I. :o

I was 19 He was 20. We already had a dd of 18 months. Had our 2nd when I was 21, 3rd at 23, 4th at 25, 5th at 28. Been married 10 years this July.

Dh and I were both 21, just a week out of college. I had 3 early miscarriages before our first daughter was born when I was 28; had our second and last, at 32. They are now 26 and 23 !

I was 29, dh was almost 29. It took us 6mn TTC our first.

We are both now 35 and have 3 children (we lost our first to a miscarriage).

People in my mothers family have successfully gotten pregnant and birthed healthy children from the ages 35-45. My youngest brother was born when my mom was 42. I know it’s not always a ‘given’ but it can be an indicator for what is in store for you and your fertility.

I was 27 DH 29
We have one DS
Still working on adding to our family 😉

I was 26 and dh was 23. We have 5 children:

dd#1, I was 29
dd#2, I was 31
dd#3, I was 34
m/c, I was 36
ds adopted when he was 5, I was 41
dd#4 adopted when she was 2, I was 41

I was not Catholic and dh was not a practicing Catholic until a few years after dd#3 was born so he had a vasectomy, which I still regret.😦 I would have loved to have more children!

We have been married since 1985.🙂
