Everyone keeps telling my husband and me that we got married REALLY young. We were both 23 … I don’t think that’s THAT young. It’s just a thing with the culture, that people are getting married later now. But I’m getting the impression that here in Catholic circles, people tend to get married a bit younger than in the surrounding culture. So – what age did you get married? (Or, if you’re engaged, at what age will you be getting married?)

Age 24, about a year out of college, and at 37 I still think that the timing was right.🙂

I was 20 my husband was 23 and we have been married for 31 years now :D.

Keep being told that “things were different 30 years ago, of course getting married at that age was okay!”

We were both 22, and we were the youngest couple in our marriage preparation classes (we did marriage prep at 20-21).

I was 21, DH was 28. That was only 7 years ago. Some people thought I was too young, but I didn’t. I still don’t think I was too young. Twenty-one seems like a young age to me now, but my maturity was fine for marriage at that age, we knew we wanted to marry, and we didn’t see the point in an extended engagement. Actually, we saw a lot of reasons why we should NOT have an extended engagement. So we chose not to.

We were 20 and 22, both recently graduated from University.

That was almost 33 years ago. 🙂

I was 19 & it was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. He was 21.

I think it really depends on what decade people got married as well. I was 26 when I got married (3.5 years ago).

I tend to think 23 is somewhat young, but not terribly young. Most people are done university by then so no big deal.

22, and I would knock my daughters unconscious with a baseball bat and lock them in the basement (if I had one) if they even HINTED at marrying that young.

Nice . You don’t own your children. When they become adults they get to make their own decisions. I married at 18 and absolutely no regrets. My parents were opposed but in the end they knew it was my choice to make. We will be celebrating our 19th anniversary in two weeks and are more in love now than the day we were married. I admit 18 is young. 22 is a perfectly reasonable age to get married.

I was 20, my husband was 25. We’ve been married 8 years now and are still going strong. 👍
