How old were you when you got married?

I was 26, hubby was 28. We owned a little one-bedroom condo. We didn’t have much, but we did very well. We now have two little ones and a lot worse off financially, struggling with bills and a larger mortgage, than when we first got married and had children, but we are making it.

Mom was 26, Dad was 23, going on 24. Grandparents on father’s side: GM was 16, GF was 19. Grandparents on mother’s side: GM was 14, GF was 21. Both sets of grandparents eloped without parents’ consent, but they had long marriages. The marriages produced 6 kids, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-children on one side and 10 children, 16 grandchildren, and at least 16 great-grandchildren on the other side. I’ve lost count with them.

We are both 24 and got married last month =)
We should have done it much much sooner! 4-6 yrs sooner =)
Don’t let how much it cost deter you (general you) because God can help you find a way! Many people pitched in to help us.

I was a month shy of 19, and he was 20. We’ve been married for 12 years. 🙂

I was 21, he was 23. We’ve been married for 21 years, but we were a couple for 3 before we were married.

I was 15 and my husband was 18 and no it was not a shotgun wedding, lol.

I was 21 and my husband was 24. We’ve gone through a lot, but it has been worth it.

Note that no one has posted on this thread since November. Usually, unless you’re the original poster (OP) with some new wrinkle to add to the discussion or another poster soliciting such news from the OP, it is better to start a new thread than to attempt to resurrect one that has not had a new post lately.

We were blessed with a dughter not quite a year later. 👍

I was 19, and DH was 20. We’ll celebrate our 40th anniversary next March.

Why do you refuse to marry if she’s “the one”? Go to your priest to start the annulment process and then, if it comes through, get married. That is the best way you can thank Jesus for having a good woman in your life. 🙂

I was 26 and my husband had just turned 29. Dated a year, engaged a year, and almost married for 3!

I have to say that I was the second of my group of 8 girlfriends to marry, after my matron of honor, who married at 22. Many people commented on how young I was  Then within 2 years after my own wedding, 3 more of my girlfriends got married (there was definitely a wave a weddings during this time lol). I worry about my other 4 friends, who I don’t believe realize how awesome marriage is and how important it is to your life and happiness. They are all very career-minded and are pushing 30 with no real potential husbands as of now (and aren’t that concerned about it). If only I could tell them that once you find the love of your life, your career only becomes a means to support your life with your love!

Hopefully, children will be on the way soon. It’s feels strange to me that I am freaking out a bit about having children soon enough, while some of my friends aren’t even engaged yet. I am so grateful to have met such an incredible Catholic man so soon in life!
