How responsible are we for other peoples sins against us

I came across this Catholic website that states through provocation or timidity we are responsible for other peoples sins. For example, a disobedient child may not have caused their father’s abuse but they provoked it. Jesus took full responsibility of the sins of those around him. Very rarely are people scotfree victims.
 
For me it is this simple. I’m responsible for what I think, say, and do. Others are responsible for what they think, say, and do.
Life really is pretty simple, however we insist on complicating things.

Some sites, even those that use the word “Catholic” in their web address, don’t always protray what the Church teaches. Many are simply a platform for the site owner’s opinion (agenda) or others are an eclectic compendium of catechism references, Cardinal’s quotes, and things attributed to saints from previous centuries- again put together to further the site owner’s agenda on a topic. If you read something that seems “off” to you, check it with a reliable source (the “ask an apologist” forum here is a good one). You can also verify whether the site is faithful to the Magesterium and its teachings by checking the “danger list” here: catholicculture.org/search/resultslist.cfm?resourcetype=2&requesttype=sitebrowserate&fidelity=red&resources=0&useability=0

People can only sin through their own freewill. We can sin by provoking, encouraging, or abetting others in sin. Regardless whether or not we are provoked we decide how to respond by turning the other cheek or not.

We may also sin through omission if we don’t take reasonable steps within our power to try and stop others from sinning. Watching others sin and doing nothing is not loving our neighbor.

This is the excuse many child abusers make,

We are often indeed totally innocent and putting guilt on the abused is more sinful than the abuse itself,

IT has taken me decades to know this.

All I did was scan the list of “Questions Answered” and found that the writer believes that “much evil came into the Church through Vatican II”.

Stop.RIght.There.

This is not a reliable source for Catholic teaching or opinion, or any basis in truth.

Surely someone like you can find better reading material.
