How should I dispose of Bibles that are unusable?

We have a dozen Bibles that have served their purpose and are now unusable. What is the proper way or procedure to dispose of them?

As far as I know there is no official Church policy on how to dispose of old Bibles. You could follow the popular tradition of how to dispose of blessed objects: burn it and bury the ashes. However it is not mandated that you do so. There would be nothing technically wrong with recycling a Bible either.
