How should I have addressed this, or should I have?

Thank you all for your responses. I didn’t, nor do I, feel the guilt for the actions of my friends - that’s on them; but rather, my concern was in more so should I have ‘beat them to the punch’ as it were and prepared them for their experience ahead of time - that’s all.

And yes indeed it was a Catholic Mass, not an ecumenical service.
