Two of my neighbors came over yesterday selling candy for a fundraiser. They said they were raising money to go to their church’s (Mormon) girls’ camp. I feel if I buy candy from them I’ll be supporting their church, which I don’t want to do.

Buying a product from someone is not the same thing as donating to a cause. Still, if it makes you uncomfortable to buy a product specifically being sold to raise money for a cause or organization you can’t support, then simply smile, say, “No, thank you,” and close your door. You can also get a small sign for your front porch from a stationery supply store that says, “No solicitors.”
