One of my friends proposed a great idea and i wish to help her, but i have no clue how… this is the idea…

"I have found that over the years though there is a Catechetics ministry in each parish ( at least I would hope there is), some people still do not have a clue about the faith. Mass is just their routine thing on a Sunday.

I have been praying for a way that I could contribute to my parish’s improvement of the awareness of parishioners concerning the effective passing on of the faith. I’ve written several articles in the Catholic News (a Catholic Newspaper in my country)…but that medium isnt as effective for a mission such as this.

Any comments or suggestions on this?"

No informed replies so far, I notice, but I’ll keep your intention in prayer.

Have you considered publishing a parish newsletter which deals exclusively with doctrine, dogma and Church history? You could publish this monthly, and invite priests, bishops and theologians to contribute. Another idea would be to create a blog or a website.

I have another idea. Why don’t you and your friend become Catechism teachers in your parish? I don’t know how you would go about doing this but I am sure your parish would be glad to have your help.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I’ll discuss it with my friend… 🙂

first step is to talk to your pastor and tell him you are discerning this ministry. chances are he has a task he has been wanting to launch, and waiting for the right person, or he already has a team–or the diocese does–working on adult catechetics and evangelization and has been waiting for YOU to get it going.

As hard as it is to recruit volunteers to teach children and teens, it is pulling teeth to find people willing and qualified (or willing to do what it takes to become qualified) to teach adults. Go on, see the pastor, make his day.
