For a few years now it seems like the whole Catholic Community is holding their hands up like the priest during the ‘Our Father’ in Mass. Some people even hold hands during the prayer. There is obviously a lot of confusion on this. I have heard from more than one priest on EWTN, namely Fr. Mitch Paqua and Fr. Benedict Groeschel that we are not to imitate the priest with this action but are to have our hands folded in prayer. Why isn’t this being addressed so that we can be Catholic in action also? Is this going to be addressed in the new Liturgy format? What is the reasoning behind the confusion, in other words, why are we to have our hands folded in prayer unlike the priest? I would like to do it right and would like to know more about this.
