Any suggestions for great ways to celebrate Mary’s month? Marian processions, crownings, Mary gardens, etc.?

It depends…

In the Eastern Church, there are 2 months that are considered “Mary’s Months” because of the 2 Feasts, August and October.

For the Feast of the Dormition, we begin with a 2 week fast and the celebrate the Feast of the Dormition with each family bringing a bouquet of fresh flowers.

In some churchs, a burial tomb is erected and an embroidered picture of Mary’s Dormition is carried in procession and placed in the tomb for veneration by the Faithful.

There is a 10 day Festal period that follows this Feast.

In October, there are many prayer services in honor of the Mother of God and the Feast of Her Protection. My parish is named after this Feast and we celebrate with Vespers and a big parish dinner.

Thanks Patchunky! When I was growing up May was the month of Mary. All the children dressed up & brought flowers from home to place at the foot of the parish Marian statue. We also crowned the statue. It was beautiful! I haven’t seen that done much anymore.
