How Sinful is This?

This is like the most scrupulous thing I’ve ever read. If these kinds of thoughts are common for you, I’d seek spiritual direction to address scrupulosity and maybe counseling for OCD.

I don’t think it’s very scrupulous, it’s mainly about the definition of deceit and if it is inherently wrong and how that applies to this situation.
I realize it sounds ridiculous to another person.

Not to deny that I can be scrupulous or have issues with intruding thoughts or ocd and such

I’ve done the same thing-made someone believe I saw, heard, or smelled something which in reality I didn’t. I guess I didn’t want the other person to think I was not, hmm, hip? disagreeable? disappoint them? spoil it for them? Particularly, if they are going on and on about a thing and really get animated about it. Afterwards, I felt…the best I can describe is- prickly. And too, my conscience was ringing bells. Not loud ones as with a mortal sin but enough to let me know perhaps that was a little wrong. So, I’d offer it up to the Lord with my heartfelt apologies, also said The Act of Contrition and went on about my business. I don’t think it’s OCD. I am a former director of a mental facility. It’s about always pleasing God. Nothing wrong with that.

Further, I’m pretty sure you’ll be quicker to respond the correct way if given the chance again. I know I have.

Blessings,
Sheila

Thanks for understanding! God bless, indeed, I couldn’t think fast enough because I had not experienced this before and ended up gesturing while trying how to go about it.
Hopefully now I can know what to do.

Brotha, if this aint scrupulous, nothing is.

If this is gravely sinful, then nobody on Earth is gonna go to heaven…

I tried looking at this from all angles and I still don’t see anything that can be perceived as sinful in your post. On another note, have you looked into scrupulosity?
not even remotely anywhere near sinful.

you probably do have scruples, I do as well. but trust me, you are overthinking on this one

Please have a bit more charity and understanding for those who want to avoid all lies. It is good that some people take the time to think about the morality of “little white lies.”

I am not scrupulous in the least, but I have read quite a lot and given a great deal of thought to the morality of lying. In our society, it is easy to grow up thinking that small lies are okay. It seems obvious, right? Well, upon closer examination, it’s not obvious.

Notwithstanding that, I agree that small lies are usually not grave matter and therefore not mortally sinful.
