How soon do we baptize a child?

My wife’s due date is June 8. We set the baptism for July 1 because our family lives out of town and that is the most convenient time for them to come. My question is are we waiting too long to baptize our child? If the Church believes that our child is assured salvation and the ability to partake of the beatific vision if they are baptized, am I being irresponsible as a parent to withhold baptism for three weeks? I know we can entrust them to God if something happens but the alternative is assurance of salvation.
 
Baptizing a child within a few weeks of his birth meets the Church’s expectations of parental responsibility in this area.
