The headline is incorrect (yes, I realize the magazine is responsible for the headline, but mistakes like that need not be repeated here).

Svetlana was not Stalin, Stalin is a reign name and only one person was Stalin. That is quite misleading.
 
I wonder how many people would have read an article entitled “How the daughter of Losif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili became Catholic”. While you both are correct, it is a matter of getting one’s attention.

Well they could have said ‘the daughter of Stalin’, that would suffice…

… And I’d say that has enough spice in it to satisfy most editors.
 
Svetlana’s surname when she came to the 'States was Alliluyeva, taken from the surname of her mother, Nadezhda, Stalin’s second wife. I always thought that was ironic, given that she was the daughter of one of the most God-less men that ever lived.

(By the way, that last statement refers to his actions during his life, without reference to anything that might have happened in the split second while he was dying.)
