Everyone said pretty boy David would never make it.

He’s now almost unrecognizable after two years!

Here’s one of me!

I am actually writing this about my brother. When he went in to the Army 20 years ago he was 115 lbs sopping wet and with a 5 lb weight!!! His friends in high school called him Rungy because he was soooo small. The Dr wanted to put him on steroids because he was convinced that was the only way he could gain weight.

I remember when he came home from boot camp. He was 155 lbs of all muscle and had grown 4 inches!!! He said he was one of the few that was allowed 2 plates of food and had 5 extra minutes to scarf it down. All of his friends were in shock and they couldn’t come up with one tease about him being small!! After AIT he was about 175 and had grown some more!!!

The past 5 or 6 years he is now having problems with his weight (he has a desk job in Korea). He is on what he calls the Fat Boys Program about every 6 months. The Fat Boys Program consists of morning PT until you are below the weight set by your CO. 🤷

Great to hear!

I know it’s not unusual to change so dramatically in the Army.

Very few people recognized David when he came home recently.

Please do vote in the poll - it’s for his girlfriend’s curiosity more than anything!

What a great looking soldier and man! He’s grown up and has taken on an air of responsibility and maturity. I think he looks great! 👍

Thanks Ma’am. - yes, I agree. And he does look a LOT older.

Thank him for his service. 👍

You have much to be proud of.

Thanks. The enormous physical change, though expected, was a bit much for his girl to take, and the change is forever! I’m sure she’ll adjust.

He’s ideologically very different too - far more Republican.

People can see something more of the family resemblance now!

You guys look like people from TV/Movies!
The before picture reminds me of Will Friedle from Boy Meets World.
The middle picture looks like it could be from a war/military movie or something.
You (Nielz) remind me of someone else from TV a little too. Have you ever seen Mythbusters? (Jamie Hyneman). He reminds me of my uncle too (6’4", bald, cool guy, interesting sense of humor).

I wanted to tell your son and your family that we appreciate the sacrifices you go through in the military for our country.

Haha, thanks!

The top two pictures are professional shots as you can probably tell.

The one of me is a very silly digital snap by my wife, which doesn’t exactly show me in my best light. Not that I really have much of a best light anyway!😃
