I just received a Christmas card from my SIL. It was addressed to just my husband(his first and last name) and family. I feel a little snubbed that my name wasn’t included on the address or at least Mr and Mrs and Family. Am I correct that this is a little rude?

Don’t feel snubbed. She addressed it with extreme formality but she did not snub you in any way. And just focus on the card itself and be grateful she remembered to send ya’ll one. Who cares how it was addressed?

I tend to address all my cards “The Smith’s” or “The Smith Family”. It makes it easier on me when I can’t remember Jr’s name. 😛

I usually address it “The John Smith Family,” even if it’s just Mr. & Mrs.

I don’t think you were snubbed, but even if you were, be thankful for the cross, for it is God’s gift to you.

Is John Smith and Family considered formal?
I would think it should be Mr and Mrs John Smith and Family especially if there is a Mrs in the household.
I realize I sound petty but this SIL seems to have a problem with me. Just when I thought I had made some progress with her.
Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut.

As someone who is paranoid about leaving people out when addressing some 40 or so Christmas cards, please don’t hold that against your SIL. It may have been an accidental, unconscience “slip of the pen” for lack of better words.
