just wondering…

when i pray to my own holy guardian angel i address him/her as “o my holy guardian angel”

what do we do if we want to pray to anothers guardian angel?

do we just address them and start the prayer off as " o holy guardian angel of x"

what do you think…has anyone prayed to anothers guardian angel?..what reason would you pray to their guardian angel?

ANGELIC PEACE

Yes, I have 😃 Tuesday was the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels. I saw my son fall off furniture and onto his head twice. You can bet the day was filled with my prayers to both my kids’ Angels! I usually say “O Holy Guardian Angels, bless and protect them!!!” in a pinch (like when I’m catching one child mid-fall only to see the other one start getting into a similar predicament on the other side of the room). I also have nicknames for them, and when I use those I usually address them by praying “Dear Holy Angel ____,” 🙂

When I pray to another persons Guardian Angel I just say ‘Guardian Angel of my mother’ or of whoever I am praying for and that is it.

In the Living Prayer of my life

That would work.

I pray to other people’s Guardian Angels when I want to evangelize them - I pray to their Guardian Angels to give them a peaceful demeanor and be receptive to the message of the Gospel.

I visualize the person to whom the Guardian Angel is assigned and then I just pray. I guess I always assumed that God would read my mind and know who I was talking about and relay the message or that the angel would understand because they also speak in images. I never thought of giving them names. Interesting.

Every day I after praying to my own guardian angel I ask him to whisper to all the guardian angels of my family (both immediate and extended) for protection, guidance and help in bringing all of them ever closer to The Lord. Somehow, never thought to ask them directly. Seems to me that maybe “angel to angel” has more pull?😃

I just speak as to an old friend. I call her Gabriella.
The practice of naming guardian angels is discouraged by the Church:

Quote:
Popular devotion to the holy angels, which is legitimate and good, can, however, also give rise to possible deviations … [such as the] practice of assigning names to the holy angels [which] should be discouraged, except in the cases of Gabriel, Raphael, and Michael whose names are contained in Holy Scripture (Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy 217).

Not to mention, how would you like it if a child or someone junior to you made up a nickname to call you, instead of “Sir” or “Ma’am”? 🤷

We ought to just call them by their titles, just out of common courtesy.

I pray to other guardian angels with the guardian angel prayer…I say:

Angels of God
there guardians dear
to whom God’s love commits them here.
Ever this day
be at their sides
to light
to guard
to rule
and guide
Amen

i usually when praying to my own holy guarian angel…just address him/her as o my holy guardian angel…or o my sweet and gentle holy guardian angel…

i have never really called him/her by a name…because even if i asked for a name and heard one interiorly i wouldn’t know whether it was my holy guardian angel who told it to me or whether i was just imagining it…

its the same when i pray to other peoples holy guardian angels…i say o holy guardian angel of x…partially because i think if i didn’t address them in this way that maybe they might not get my prayer…(i know that is nonsense because god hears all prayer and would pass it along to them)…but addressing them like this is sort of reassurance for me it sort of focuses my mind on who i am sending my prayer to

what sort of things could you pray to other people holy guardian angels about…?..would they actually listen or would they be more inclined to listen to the person who they guard/protect

The reason is that your Angel is neither your buddy nor your pet. …
I am sure you mean well, we stay friends, but please remember nothing is going to change & I won’t go to hell for it. I even have a “Gabrella” tattoo on my right forearm. This is one of those personal things that in the bigger picture others just don’t need to mess with.
