In my experience Eucharistic Adoration and an intentional commitment to regular prayer.

The Cloud of Unknowing is, arguably, one of my favorite books of all time. God bless that holy, beautiful anonymous Saint!

Hi. I feel called to intimacy with God, although I’m still a beginner in prayer life.

How can I advance towards contemplation?

How can I get inner recollection and maintain it through a busy day?

How can I transform my life in a constant and continuous prayer?
. . . . We can guide someone in prayer, but, it is mostly a personal journey.
Mary and the rosary is a great place to start. She will guide you.
Inner recollection throughout the day takes practice. Stress seems to destroy recollection.
Visualization is helpful to quiet the mind and attain better focus.

. . . . Constant continuous prayer is the ability to maintain a sense of God’s presence. This takes practice and faith.

St Theresa goes in depth about this in her book
“Interior Castle”. There is a free download online about advancing in spiritual state.
From the 1st castle–noticing all the reptiles etc in your life…to true purgation of not noticing these obstacles.
After the purgative “rooms” you enter into the contemplative state toward union with God.

@kikiki32, everyone is called to greater intimacy with God because God desires us to be when Him always. It is to those that hear the call and answer it that reap the reward. The spiritual journey is not an easy one to trek, St. Therese of Lisieux said that the great spiritual saints were akin in their journey as climbing a treacherous mountain to reach the summit, while all she had to do is raise her arms as a child to be carried there. We are all called to God differently and there are many different “techniques” of meditative/contemplative prayer (Carmelite, St. Ignatius of Loyola, etc.) in the end it will be God who will will this in your soul.

I just finished listening to a series of talks on the spiritual life that may benefit you in this journey. http://sensustraditionis.org/release/spiritual-life/

I am no spiritual director, or contemplative master, but if you need to talk, just feel free to pm me.

Thank you everyone.

@Sundiver I’ll try to consistently pray the Rosary. I pray it from time to time, but not everyday. Some days I pray just the 5 mysteries… some others I pray 15/20 in different sets through the day. But I can’t manage to pray for 5 straight days (which is slightly humbling, to be honest).

I hadn’t thought about ‘training myself’ to reach concrete brain frequencies, although I’m slightly wary of messing up with my brain or conscience. I am a very distracted person since I was a little child. But whenever I manage to concentrate, I can really focus on what I’m doing. The problem is that I seldomly focus like that. I guess I can ask God for some help there, alongside with learning how to pray.

@Katie777 I’ll try to read that book in little chunks. I started it some years ago, but didn’t stick with it for more than a few pages. My mother tongue is Spanish, and I must say the book is beautifully written, but using a slightly old Spanish that requires a little bit of concentration, like reading Don Quixote does.

@kire05 I’ll listen to these podcasts and see what can I learn from them. I’ll pm you if I feel the need to talk a bit. Thank you for the link.
