How to afford Catholic High School with 5 kids?

My question is what are people thoughts on sending children to Catholic school but have a good amount of credit card debt?
Personally I think it’s a horrible idea (said as someone facing years of paying off debt due to bad choices and wishing I could do things with my family with that money now instead). You never know what is going to come at you in the future - illness, job loss, opportunities but with a cost, and so forth. I use to be skeptical. Life taught me to be a believer in eliminating debt like credit cards as quickly as possible.

I would say–definitely don’t go further into debt for K-12.

As people have said, you never know what’s coming, and if you go into debt in good times, the bad times are going to involve a lot of unnecessary suffering.

Move to Wichita Kansas. Active Cathoc families do not pay tuition per we. They have a model in which you contribute more to church Which is tax deductable! Last I heard they haven’t closed a school in ten years.

Thanks all! What if your wife insists on sending them to Catholic school despite the debt, and wont listen to you otherwise?

When one person makes a unilateral decision in finances despite the opposition of s spouse then there is a marital issue, not a scholastic one.

I think you hit the nail on the head, thanks for being honest.
