the thing to answer them is probably -

“Walk in Gods ways and you will arrive in heaven one day”

I believe this +

My own reply if asked which I rarely am is yes, of course so now let us use our lives to help others… but then I am usually speaking from behind a tableladen with rosaries etc for sale for that purpose.

I was once accused in a supermarket check out queue when the man behind me remarked n the amount of jam I was buying ( food parcels anyone?) of doing the work I do to, wait for it, curry favour with Jesus to get into heaven… He was an American pastor, Seems to be an evangelical favourite idea… I was too startled to retaliate so simply quoted Matthew re feeding the poor and that babies have a right to life… Afterwards I could have knocked his head off, He curled his lip at my reply; as I was wearing a crucifix it gave him an opening to opine how surprised he was that a CATHOLIC read the Bible,

So a simply ???such are you saved is small beer, And I would reply simply and smile. And go on to other things…

This is probably the best answer so far

Buy since I am feeling humorous I will try my stab at a humorous response.

Customer: “Are you saved?
Teller:” No, I am sorry. He quit yesterday. He works over at Savings and Loan now. "

Humorous attempt #2

Customer: “Are you saved?”
Teller:“you are asking the question wrong. "
Customer:” What?"
Teller:"You should not ask are you saved, but have you saved anyone lately? "

Humorous attempt #3
Customer:" Are you saved. "
Teller:" only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays".
Customer :"what? "
Teller: That’s when we have our special savings days.

Ok, so I shouldn’t quit my day job. 😃

Best to never engage in religious arguments at work. Just answer you can’t discuss religion at work, or the subject. I feel like people who would ask such things of employees are engaging in a bit of bullying. The employee is obligated to be polite and responsive, and it can lead to awkwardness and possibly firing of the employee. I don’t remember Jesus encouraging such things.

I was asked that and told him to ask me after I am dead then I will know for sure. He didn’t know what to say and left.

According to my priest’s homily, the simple answer would be say: I was saved at baptism and I hope to be redeemed.

(confession and communion is still necessary for salvation)
There are many good witty answers so far but as for me this would be the closest to describe my belief if someone should be cheeky enough to ask me such question.😉

To the young evangelists etc, Yes , that is the promise so now let us live as Jesus asks…"

Some think that that is IT and it really is only a beginning and an enabling.

Normally I’m up for a discussion, but not at work. But I get customers who will ask me things like “are you saved” or whatnot while I’m behind the counter. And I’m never really sure how to respond.
When a Protestant asks me this I usually joke, “Absolutely brother! We’re all saved by faith alone…which is why I never bother to read the Bible.”

Eh, the main problem in situations like that is that, while one may be able to provide an answer, it may not be a good situation in which to provide an answer.

You can say “I am saved” with confidence. Catholics believe God’s grace is a gift that we can’t earn. Just say yes and move on.

If you ever get a chance Fr. Larry Richards does a good job of explaining how to answer this question.

The lady that facilitated the RCIA classes I attended told a story of some ladies at her house one day, talking about their salvation. Our teacher came back into the living room, and the ladies, knowing she was Catholic, asked her (with noticeable snark in their tone) “When were YOU saved?”

Her answer was priceless. “Two thousand years ago.”

I say… oh yes…I am in the Church that Jesus founded and I partake of the Sacraments, which are a means to Grace that Jesus instituted for us. I try and respond to that Grace as best I can by following His commandments, doing good works and evangelizing by spreading His Gospel. Would you like to know more about Jesus Christ and His Church, the Catholic Church?
Awesome response!

You reject that gift every time you sin, which is why Jesus said that many of his own followers would go to hell if they do not repent and over come their sin.

Catholics answer such Q’s along these lines:

I AM SAVED AND STILL IN THE PROCESS OF BEING SAVED… Thanks for asking

Blessings

It’s more the “at work” bit.

If I were free, on my own time, I could provide a good answer. But when you’re working a customer service job, there are many constraints.

“Has God not given you the grace to discern whether or not I am?”
😉
