I came here to ask on behalf of my friend what she ought to do.
This is what she wrote to me;
This is what she wrote to me;
It’s really, bad as far as I can tell. It’s pretty much forced me to look for a different Mass to attened. As I’m sure you remember, I attended the teen Mass at my church, and over the last few weeks, they’ve been taking the Mass and turning it into a zoo. Almost every week they seem to have a skit durring the homily, which I don’t understand the point of. Why have a skit? Why not just have the preist say what he means, but even worse than the fact that some of these skits are bad and not thought through well, is that the people putting them on seem to have no respect for the alter or the traditions that surround the Liturgy of the Word. We’ve had teens reading part of the gospel, doing skits right up around the alter, and other such craziness.
What really got to me though, and what sent me to tears for the whole of the Mass, is that a few weeks ago, they decided it was nessicary to have an alter call before Mass… Can you believe that? I mean, I do not understand the point of the alter call. Everything we do there is done durring Mass itself, and the explination I was given about it taked of general absolution, which we never do except in the most dire of circumstances.
What should my friend do? I suggested talking to another priest, or, if that doesn’t clear up the problem, contacting her bishop somehow. Does someone here with experience on this sort of issue have any help for my friend?There are more problems, but these are the biggest things I can think of in the amount of time that I have to type this out, and I know it’s my pastor’s ideas because I’ve seen the meetings myself and he kind of runs them. I honestly am at a loss of what to do if it’s my pastor himself causing these inconsistancies and issues…
