jmcrae, yes, it is completely understandable that you wouldn’t want to go near masturbation or porn when you were 13. Society has done so many things to our world that has such a big impact on people, especially to younger people. Temptations become much more severe, because of all the influence, on tv, the Internet, etc. Sadly people don’t find making dresses for dolls or horseback riding to their interest anymore. Sadly people seem to think the only way of relieving themselves of boredom would be to go on the Internet and watch TV. And they seem to stumble on types of things such as swearing, the influence of sex, alcohol, violence, and so many other things. Growing up, the hormones start to kick in, and with such a big probability of stumbling into one of these matters, the temptation rises. And being tempted becomes much easier then it was before. I will pray with my heart for myself, and all other people, that these temptations can finally be resolved, and that maybe, one day, people will resort to better ways of relieving themselves of boredom.
Glad to see another person who knows and can say how troubled things are, and how things should be! 🙂

I think as you grow older you will understand that temptation will never totally go away (unless you live in the desert), it’s how you and I handle the temptation. As shin said it’s about building virtue and changing habits.

It is best to deal with this type of sin early.I started way to early with the thoughts, which later lead to more.
I bailed on confession, the Church, with the sin becoming my god.
irregular attendace is the only thing that kept me somewhat sane.
97 you are on the right path. Ask the Blessed Mother’s intervention, she guards purity.

My question is, where would I get a St. Benedict medal? Thank you

God bless.
Well you can get some already blessed, attached to other sacramentals here. Many of the sacramentals have an option to add on medals, like the Green Scapular.

I believe if you phone call in your order you can still get some aluminum ones (very small donation, under a dollar I think) individually too from them, separately that is. 🙂

That’s one place. There’re others that provide them* already blessed*, which is usually the easiest way to go.

If they’re not already blessed you have to hunt down a priest and give him the printed out blessing to say for them, unless he’s a more traditional priest and has the older Roman Ritual books for it, which many newer ones don’t.

Although it is nice to see it done. 🙂

St. Benedict medals are absolutely wonderful. If you are experiencing a temptation, hold one and pray, or touch it to your forehead and pray, and it will be mitigated. Because the blessing is especial for these sorts of things.

Porn is violent even for adults. To see porn at a very young age is almost the same as being a victim of violent act by others. In this case “the ghost violator” is more abstract to be named.

I see children who watch porn as victims.

Parents, please be careful where you place your computers (place it in the living room with the screen facing the couch, so you can see “from far” time to time what your children watch). Turn on the restriction to lower than their actual age. I once restrict to “PG” rate, yet there are still negative topics come up, so I set it to “4 year old”. My son is teen. Eventhough the restriction setting is “4 year old”, doesn’t mean the topics are only for 4 year olds. He likes to watch science topics, comics, jokes, good positive material for his age. No more negative ones come up.
